A Message to Our DFJCA Community

For 28 years, DFJCA provided a place for our members, families, and friends in Scottsdale and the northern Phoenix area to come together to celebrate Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur and share the traditions that mean so much to us.

In April 2026, after much thoughtful consideration, the Board of Directors voted to disband the association.

Over the years, it became increasingly difficult to attract new members and maintain the level of participation we once enjoyed. Fewer members of the community were choosing to join us, and we were also unable to find enough volunteers willing to step forward and serve on the High Holiday Committee. These challenges ultimately made it impossible for DFJCA to continue as we had in the past.

It was a very difficult decision for the Board of Directors. At the same time, we have come to recognize that it was the right decision for the association.

The transition has not been easy. Many of us are now looking for new places to celebrate the High Holidays, while others have already found local congregations where they can continue to enjoy services, community, and the many Jewish traditions we have shared for so many years.

As your past President, I want to thank all of our former members, as well as those who attended our services and programs over the years. Your participation, friendship, and support helped make DFJCA a special part of our lives for 28 years.

I wish each and every one of you L’Shana Tova—a New Year filled with good health, peace of mind, happiness, and meaningful connections. And when Yom Kippur arrives, I wish you all a meaningful fast.
